The Food Access Committee (FAC) is a coalition of members of Garden Committees who have built nine raised-bed collective vegetable gardens with the collaboration of FAM organizers.
Transportation for All
Transportation for All (TFA) is a group of bus riders, clergy, bus drivers, & supporters working for a strong bus system in Greater Bangor. Community Connector is the public transit system in the Bangor region, servicing Bangor, Brewer, Orono, Old Town, Veazie and Hampden.
Solidarity Harvest is a project organized by Food AND Medicine and sponsored by the Eastern, Southern and Western Maine Labor Councils that distributes locally-sourced Thanksgiving meal baskets, each with enough food for 8-10 people.
Food AND Medicine has incorporated faith groups into our organizing for over a decade. Out of that work grew Faith Linking in Action (FLIA), a group of Bangor-area congregations and community groups working together to “go upstream” to address the reasons people are falling into and getting stuck in poverty.
Our Childcare Team has focused on the lack of affordable care in Maine. The Team surveyed parents and child care providers on their experiences with the Child Care Subsidy Program (CCSP, or “voucher program”).
