Jack McKay, Director 

Jack is one of the founders of Food AND Medicine, and has been the Director since the beginning in 2001. Jack oversees the day to day operation of the organization, as well as strategic planning, finances, budgeting and FAM's long term sustainability. He was previously a school teacher in New York City, and spent many years as a union organizer. Born and raised in Bangor, Jack has two sons, Ben and Simon, a dog named Vive and a number of chickens and other animals that keep his sons busy.

 

 

 

 

 

Melissa Smith, Office Manager has been with Food AND Medicine since 2015. Her responsibilities include finances, grant management, marketing, event planning and other administrative duties. Melissa grew up in New Jersey, has a Bachelor's degree from Rutgers University. She previously worked in the credit card industry for 15 years in Phoenix prior to moving to Maine to be closer to family.

 

 

 

 

 

Darcy Cooke, Organizer started as a volunteer, and has worked with FAM since 2018. Her primary role is to organize Transportation for All and the Bangor Area Food Council; she also supports FAM's Food Access Committee and electoral work. Darcy graduated from Emerge Maine in 2021; she is also a trained chef and a terrific musician. She lives in Bangor with her dog, Chuck Finley.
